Who’s Bacco?

Bacco (Bacchus) is the ancient Roman god of wine, joy, and the grape harvest. The name originates from the Greek "Βάκχος" and represents celebration, freedom, and happiness.

This inspiration lives at the heart of Bacco Selections LLC, founded in 2013 by Paolo and Sheila Pellizzari.

Living between Chianti and North Carolina, Paolo and Sheila saw an opportunity to bring small-production, high-quality Italian wines to a market hungry for authenticity and excellence.

Sheila, with her luxury fashion background (Vogue, Gucci), and Paolo, an engineer and builder, joined forces with shared values of quality, organization, dependability, and novelty.

Yes, Bacco is also the name of their beloved dog, who used to fall asleep snoring under stacks of wine boxes. He became the unexpected muse for their company’s identity.

“We realized there was a void in the market for wines that were not only high quality and organically made, but also full of personality and a story worth sharing.”
